Broken Key Extraction
You were locking up on the way out when the key broke in the lock. Now the door is unlocked, a piece of key is jammed in the cylinder, and you were already running late for work.
Broken Key Extraction
Commercial doors in Caledon East take a beating: hundreds of openings a day, deliveries, weather, the odd kick. We fit lever sets, closers, push bars and deadlatches built for that traffic, adjust them so the door shuts and latches on its own, and come back to service them before they fail. Calls from Albion, Mono Road, Sandhill and Sleswick are covered too.

2021 census · what it means at the door
30%Newer homes
About 30% of homes in Caledon were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.
Where most homes are recent, the doors themselves are sound and the work is mostly about keys and control: who holds them, whether contractor keys were retired, and whether one key can open everything. The visit is often more conversation than drilling.
81%Mostly houses
Single-detached houses make up about 81% of homes in Caledon (2021 Census).
In areas of single houses, the door nobody watches is the side or back entry. It often has the weakest lock on the property. Fitting a proper deadbolt and a reinforced strike there is a modest job that closes the obvious gap.

A knob lock alone is a latch, not a lock. Adding a proper deadbolt is the single most useful upgrade on most houses, and the residential pages explain how we choose one, install it into the door and frame, and match it to your existing keys.
High security
When a landlord or employer holds keys to many doors, a restricted key system with a master hierarchy gives control without a fistful of keys, and stops any tenant or staff member copying theirs. The page explains how the keyway, the register and the hardware work together.

Caledon East
We treat the whole door in Caledon East, not just the cylinder. Hinges that have sagged, a strike plate held by short screws, a frame that has moved with the seasons: these decide whether a lock holds, and they are checked on every visit. Sometimes the right advice is a longer screw and a shim rather than a new lock, and we say so.

When people say upgrade they usually mean a heavier lock, and there is a real scale behind that word. Builders hardware in North America is graded to ANSI/BHMA standards, with Grade 1 the highest and Grade 3 the lightest, and residential products carry a separate label scoring security, durability…

If keys were taken or the lock was compromised, we rekey or replace before leaving. You end the visit with a door that locks and keys that only you hold.
Usually. Laid end to end, the halves show the full set of cuts and identify the blank, and a locksmith reads them with a gauge and cuts a fresh key to those depths on a code machine. That is better than tracing the broken blade on a duplicator, because a worn key copied is a worn key repeated. If a spare or the key code exists, that is used instead.
Try the key while gently pushing, pulling and lifting the door. If it frees up in one position, the bolt is being pinched by the frame and the door is the cause. If nothing changes, look at the key: does it go fully in and refuse to turn, or spin freely? The first points to the cylinder, the second to the tailpiece behind it. Tell the locksmith which you found and the right parts come in the van.
A private mailbox, whether a standalone box at the curb or a slot in a house door, belongs entirely to that home. A building's mailbox panel groups many small locking compartments in one frame, usually in a lobby, with each compartment assigned to a unit. The lock itself works the same way in both cases; what differs is who confirms the change and how many other doors sit nearby.
Anchoring leaves small holes at the anchor points, sized to the bolts being used, and on a finished floor these sit under the safe itself where they are never seen again. On tile, the risk of cracking nearby tiles is real enough that an alternative fastening point or a different spot in the room is often chosen instead of drilling straight through the tile itself.
A restricted or patented keyway limits who can cut a copy of your keys to whoever holds the manufacturer's authorization record, rather than any hardware counter. It suits doors behind which cash, records or controlled supplies sit. A standard keyway is simpler to administer and works well for lower-risk doors where duplication control matters less.
